Default Cessna 210 down near Kalgoorlie

The RAC Rescue helicopter has been sent to a plane crash 130 nautical miles north east of Norseman and 65 nautical miles south east of Kalgoorlie (near Lake Cowan).

The two people on board are believed to be injured and trapped.

The plane is a small fixed wing Cessna 210 aircraft.

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority have organised for a Dash 8 aircraft to search for the plane. It will be overhead shortly to try and communicate with the people.

The RAC Rescue helicopter will take approximately 2 hours to reach the site.

A four wheel drive ambulance is making its way from Norseman but could take some time to reach the people.

From ABC Online:

It is understood a rescue aircraft will soon arrive at Kalgoorlie airport, in Western Australia's Goldfields, with at least one person on board who was injured in a small plane crash this afternoon.

The ABC has been told two people were trapped inside a plane after it crashed near Lake Cowan, south-east of Kalgoorlie.

Rescuers have yet to reveal whether both have been freed.

The extent of their injuries is not yet known.

The two males on board are aged 67 and 52.

The impact caused the engine to dislodge.
