Default Air New Zealand last 747 flight

I overheard today that NZ8 AKL-SFO will be the last flight for NZ's 747's tonight. Is this true, if it is, where will it go, cargo???

Apparently ZK-NBV's last flight is the return NZ7 from SFO on Friday morning, after 16 years of service.

I had read on another forum that it has been sold to GE. I don't know how reliable that information is however.

G'Day guys!! Back from the dead... been at least 4 years since I last posted here, but since moving to USA I haven't had a whole lot to contribute. Up till now!

I heard about this being AirNZ's final 747 flight, and having loved flying their 747s, I really wanted to make the trip up to SFO to see it one more time.

Here are shots I took with my mobile phone (I know.. I know....but it's all I had yesterday).

Sitting at her familiar gate

A closer look (poor quality)

Panoramic view of Concourse G at SFO

Emirates 77W climbing away. The Queen, and her successor.

One final look.

Farewell

Glad I got to see NZ's final 747 on her final flight home before retirement. Sad day.
