What routes are they going to be used for?

lloyd fox
29th October 2020, 08:34 AM
From the articles i have read mainly fifo routes seems to be the suggestion.

I would also suggest that possibly regional routes that VA cannot fly .

The ACCC have received in the last day or so a new agreement request with Virgin and Alliance for greater co-operation.

The E190 is TRW-BNE today.

Lloyd, I wonder (couldn't tell from your images) if the US reg were stickers which could be torn off to reveal the OZ reg.

The ones under the wings may cover the Aust. Reg.

Robert.M
2nd November 2020, 12:26 PM
This would explain why US reg lack rego on the wing.

Until December 31, 1960, the required location for display of nationality and identification marks for fixed- wing aircraft was the wing surfaces, and the vertical surface of either the tail or fuselage. Effective January 1, 1960, all fixed-wing aircraft were required to display identification marks on the vertical surfaces or either the tail or fuselage. Wing surface markings were no longer required.

From QQ facebook page

Just like VH-UYZ (below) each of our 14 new Embraer’s will be registered VH – UY[ ].
These registrations are very special to Alliance in two ways.
1. The call sign our pilots proudly use on each and every flight is UNITY.
2. Between January 1929 and February 1938 all Australian aircraft were registered VH – U[ ][ ] using the last two letters of the previous British G – AU registration. For example Smithy’s famous Southern Cross G – AUSU became VH – USU.

Alliance Aviation signs for another 16 E190s

Alliance Aviation has signed for 16 Embraer 190 aircraft and one spare GE Aviation CF34 engine from US-based Jetran LLC in a A$85 million ($65 million) deal, marking the completion of its short-term fleet expansion plans.

The operator plans to fund the transaction through a mixture of existing cash facilities, operating cash flows and debt, it said today in a disclosure to the Australian Securities Exchange.

Alliance Aviation first announced its acquisition of Embraer E190s in August.

“Alliance has again taken advantage of its strong financial position and current market conditions to acquire these quality aircraft at compelling value,” managing director Scott McMillan states.

“The 100-seat jet aircraft market globally will rebound quickly as carriers look to focus on total trip costs rather than traditional metrics.”

According to Alliance, the aircraft were previously operated by American Airlines and are configured with 99 seats across two classes. Alliance will receive these over an 11-month period, starting with five this month and one a month until November 2021.

“This additional capacity will be deployed to capture several growth opportunities across Australia including contract flying and wet- and dry-lease operations,” Alliance states.

Alliance announced on 3 August that it was acquiring 14 E190s from US-based lessor Azorra Aviation, along with six spare CF34 engines. The agreement, which includes options to acquire another five E190s, as well as a full flight simulator and other training equipment, was valued at $79.4 million.

The aircraft from Azorra were due to deliver progressively over eight months commencing September 2020.

McMillan states in the 18 December disclosure: “This transaction completes Alliance’s short-term fleet expansion strategy and while the Azzora transaction included options for five additional aircraft, these options will now not be exercised.”

Alliance further states that the E190 simulator in the Azzora transaction is currently in transit to Brisbane and will be utilised for most of the initial and all recurrent pilot training.

Alliance Airlines has ordered 16 additional E190s.

Alliance Airlines will bolster its fledgling jet fleet with the purchase of 16 Embraer E190s, on top of the 14 already ordered from Copa Airlines.

The E190s, previously flown by American Airlines and retired in April this year, have been snared in an $85 million deal which also includes one spare engine.

Alliance will take delivery of the first five jets this month, and then one per month will be handed over across January to November 2021.

The E190s will arrive in American's 99-seat configuration of

8 business class seats (in a 2-1 arrangement) with 36" pitch
4 extra-legroom economy seats (at the exit row) with 34" pitch
80 economy seats with 31-32" pitch

That makes the price for each aircraft less than $6 million.

ASX RELEASE

ASX: AQZ

Alliance Aviation Services Limited further expands the fleet with the acquisition of an additional 16 Embraer E190 aircraft

Alliance Aviation Services Limited (“Alliance”) has today entered into an agreement with Jetran LLC, of the United States, to further expand its fleet through the purchase of 16 additional Embraer E190 aircraft and one spare General Electric CF34 engine.

The total acquisition price for the package is AUD85 million which will be funded through a mixture of existing cash facilities, operating cash flows and debt.

“Alliance has again taken advantage of its strong financial position and current market conditions to acquire these quality aircraft at compelling value. The 100 seat jet aircraft market globally will rebound quickly as carriers look to focus on total trip costs rather than traditional metrics,” said Managing Director, Scott McMillan.

The aircraft were previously operated by American Airlines and are in a 99 seat two-class cabin configuration and will deliver to Alliance over an eleven-month period beginning with five aircraft in December 2020 and then one a month until November 2021.

This additional capacity will be deployed to capture several growth opportunities across Australia including contract flying and wet and dry lease operations.

“The acquisition of these 16 aircraft is in addition to the previously disclosed acquisition of 14 E190 aircraft from Azzora Aviation. This transaction completes Alliance’s short-term fleet expansion strategy and while the Azzora transaction included options for five additional aircraft, these options will now not be exercised.” he said.
The E190 simulator purchased as part of the Azzora E190 transaction is currently in transit to Brisbane and will be utilised for most of the initial and all recurrent pilot training.

Alliance expects that the E190 will be added to its CASA Air Operator’s Certificate during March 2021. There is forecast to be no material impact on the FY21 financial performance as a result of this acquisition, with the full year impact of the transaction expected in FY23.

Alliance will be releasing its half year results on Wednesday, 10thFebruary 2021.

Hi Dylan, thanks. I have had a look at the CASA registration list for "UY?". It would appear that the VH regos are going backwards with the youngest Copa aircraft being Z, second youngest Y, third youngest W as X belongs to an EMB-505 Executive aircraft. The next one available is U as V is an Aerostar 600.

Greg Hyde
17th January 2021, 04:24 PM
The Aus Civil Register search engine only looks at the last update and is not real-time.

The Updates normally run over the weekend and the latest searchable register is normally available on Monday morning.

If you check it on a weekend you will get updated information, up to the previous weekend, if the update hasn't run yet. (ie: A week behind)

If you check Available Marks you will find that there are no "UY" in the listing so I expect that Alliance has reserved all the regos that are already in use.

According to a post on 19/12/20, Alliance has acquired another 16 E190s previously operated by American Airlines.

The report went on to say that the aircraft would be acquired over an 11 month period starting with five to be delivered in December 2020 and then one a month until until November 2021.

Does anyone know the status of this order, details of the aircraft involved etc.

Thanks in advance.

The AA aircraft are currently stored in Roswell

Withdrawn in April 2020 they were then ferried to Roswell

The a/c in question are:

excluding several which have already been leased.

According to the Alliance facebook site it will be VH-UYB

Greg Hyde
15th March 2021, 06:37 PM
The Aircraft is the 5th (of 30) Embraer E190 aircraft joining Alliance Airlines fleet and will be registered VH-UYB. The aircraft is powered by two GE CF34-10E5 engines and has a passenger configuration of 10 Business Class seats and 84 Economy seats.

The photos were taken after exiting a 10 day repaint by Coopesa in San Jose (Costa Rica).

The design of the livery was undertaken by Alliance Airlines and Lila Design in close consultation with the Air Force and is a tribute to Air Force’s 100 years of service to Australia on the 31st March 2021.

The one off metallic paint is inspired by the color of uniforms worn by many, many thousands of dedicated Air Force personnel and has been specially formulated by Alliance Airlines in close co-operation with Mankiewicz Coatings.

The F-35A Lightning II, the Australian Defence Force’s Air first fifth-generation air combat capability, is silhouetted speeding through the Air Force 100 Logo.

A SE5a bi-plane, Spitfire, Canberra, F-111, P-8A Poseidon, C-17A Globemaster III and F/A-18F Super Hornet representing different eras and historic and significant Air Force aircraft feature on the tail.
The aircraft is scheduled to operate from San Jose (Costa Rica) to San Diego (USA) to Honolulu (USA) to Majuro (Marshall Islands) and arrive in Brisbane (Australia) prior to the 31st March 2021.

Once arrived the aircraft will join the Australian civil aircraft register and operate in revenue service throughout Australia.

Chairman of Alliance Airlines, Mr Steve Padgett OAM is a former Air Force Cadet and is a National Council Member of the Australian Air Force Cadets Foundation.

Australia's Alliance Air launches E190 commercial ops

07.04.2021 - 06:37 UTC

Alliance Airlines (QQ, Brisbane Int'l) on April 10 launches commercial service with its recently acquired ERJ 190-100AR fleet based out of Adelaide and Darwin.

In an Australian Stock Exchange filing, the regional carrier, previously an all Fokker Aircraft operator, announced it had received regulatory approval and a revised Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) from the country’s Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) on March 31 to commence commercial operations with its E190 fleet. This followed “an intense six-month programme of aircraft and spare parts acquisition, maintenance, training, and regulatory and compliance checks,” it said.

Alliance Air Chief Executive Officer Lee Schofield confirmed the operating base for these aircraft would be Adelaide and Darwin. Three aircraft would be wet-leased to Qantas (QF, Sydney Kingsford Smith) from May 25, 2021, on a previously-announced three-year wet-lease contract. These aircraft will also be based in Adelaide and Darwin.

Alliance has firm purchase commitments for the delivery of thirty E190s to be used to expand the airline’s operations. So far, 18 aircraft have been paid for and delivered to Alliance. The balance of 12 aircraft would be delivered progressively through to November 2021. Fourteen of the E190s have been acquired from Azorra Aviation and sixteen from Jetran, both US-based lessors, the airline revealed previously.

The status of those delivered are as follows: Five have been delivered to Australia; three are receiving base maintenance overseas; and 10 are in storage pending base maintenance.

The company’s full flight simulator is scheduled to be available for training in early May with pilots currently being trained with Finnair (AY, Helsinki Vantaa) in Helsinki.

The carrier said its fleet of twenty-seven Fokker 100s, five Fokker 50s, and fourteen Fokker 70s is used across fly-in- fly-out (FIFO), charter, and wet-lease operations.

More use for E-Jets

Final approval for Virgin–Alliance collaboration on 41 routes

The ACCC has granted final permission for Virgin and Alliance to collaborate on 41 regional routes until 31 March 2023.

Australia’s competition commission had earlier granted interim authorisation in November despite fierce opposition from Rex.

The deal will allow Virgin to share information on cost, capacity, and flight schedules with Alliance in order to help serve smaller towns with its post-administration, stripped-back fleet, arguing that ceding market share to Qantas could result in more expensive fares for passengers.

The 41 routes included services to regional towns from Brisbane, Alice Springs, Perth and Cairns. The full list is at the bottom of this article.

In its initial ruling published in November, the ACCC said, “The co-operation will allow Virgin Australia and Alliance Airlines to share information, and to agree on service capacity, schedules and potentially revenue sharing on the routes on which they operate, including for new routes not currently serviced by either airline.

“The co-operation will mean that Virgin Australia and Alliance Airlines will not compete with each other on the routes covered by the agreement.

“Our preliminary view is that any public detriment resulting from reduced competition between Alliance Airlines and Virgin Australia is likely to be limited, given Alliance Airlines’ limited number of scheduled regular passenger services. We will consider this issue further in the course of our review of the substantive application.

Australian Executive traveller states some in Qantaslink livery

QantasLink will debut non-stop flights between Canberra and Darwin next month, along with a new Adelaide-Gold Coast service.

Using Embraer E190 jets leased from Alliance Airlines, flights between Darwin and the national capital are the first to kick off, taking wing from June 21.

That's followed shortly after with the new Adelaide-Gold Coast route, running four times a week from June 25.

Those E190s will be painted in QantasLink colours and offer 10 seats in business class and 84 in economy – but without WiFi or video streaming, passengers will want to bring their own device pre-loaded with entertainment.

Qantas had originally committed to leasing three E190s from Alliance, with this move pushing that to eight: and with options for six more.

Alliance commenced operating QLink services today with their E190 fleet

From what I've seen, these are the first Qlink services for each aircraft. There flights are either completed and/or scheduled

UYB QF1950, Adelaide to Darwin
UYO QF1958, Darwin to Alice Springs
UYW QF1956, Adeliade to Alice Springs
UYY QF1960, Darwin to Alice Springs
UYZ QF1954, Adelaide to Alice Springs

James Smith
27th May 2021, 11:33 AM
QANTAS has stated in its E190 based in Adelaide media release that, "the aircraft will be painted in QantasLink livery..."

Will this result in the five current E190s now in service with QANTAS being repainted, including UYB in its unique Defence colour scheme, or will future E190 deliveries from Copa or American be painted in QLink livery prior to delivery, or after delivery, and be substituted for the current five? It would seem a waste to paint the current aircraft in the Alliance scheme prior to delivery and then repaint them as QLink only months later. Maybe N916QQ will be the first to be repainted as it was delivered in all white colours.

Any thoughts on this?

Also, the five E190s have entered service with QLink in a 10J/84Y seating configuration according to QANTAS Source.

BNE 6x(VH)
BNE 1x(N)
PTY 2x(57,64)
CJO 5X(59,60,61,62,65)

Only half of the ex-Copa birds (7 x 94Pax) have been delivered. The QFLink livery has been known publicly for some time. I expect that a number of the remaining seven (and N916QQ) will be delivered in all white livery and painted locally or arrive in QLink livery. They will swap out the existing aircraft as new aircraft in QLink livery become available.

Paint here or in SJO will depend on the cost. From memory both Wagga & Townsville have repainted aircraft in QLink livery.

James Smith
27th May 2021, 01:54 PM
Thanks for your input, Greg. The QANTAS media release went on to say that:

The E190s are 94-seat jets with a five-hour range which are being deployed on Qantas’ network as part of a three-year deal with Alliance Airlines. The deal provides the national carrier with the capacity provided by up to 14 jet aircraft, depending on market conditions. Today’s announcement brings the number of aircraft activated as part of the agreement to eight.

Interesting - a three year deal with Alliance, eight E190s activated and up to 14 aircraft in the deal. The 14 just happens to be the number of E190s that Alliance is taking from Copa.

Dennis McLean

I have seen the seating map for the E.190's, rather strange with Row 1 having 1 seat only on Port side and no seats on the Starboard side. Rows 2-4 are 1 and 2. Then there are 21 Rows of 2 - 2 Total 10J/84Y

Guys,

I don't think (could be wrong) that QF/QLink have leased specific aircraft (ie: VH-UYC).
They would of leased a number of E190's, in QFLink livery and 94PAX.

So, after the fleet settles down (with all the appropriate in livery) they may have an extra a/c in QLink livery as a spare in-case an a/c goes u/s. Also a spare when an a/c is under maintenance. Again that has to be specified in the agreement.

QF has leased (or may need) "ALL" COPA Jets so that QQ can't do anything else with them. That's why the AA birds were added later.

I would be REALLY SURPRISED if QQ repainted a/c with fresh paint.

Of the 14, Qantas have only said that 5 will be painted in full QantasLink colours. Others may remain white or stay in QQ colours. To change from all white to QantasLink would only require a few days at most.

The cabin crew are in QF uniforms and the aircraft have a small “Operated on behalf of QantasLink” sticker by the forward door.

QQ also seem to have stopped using the E190’s to cover for Air North for the moment.

Yes all the white ones will be painted in QFlink livery and the originals will come back to Alliance.VH-UYC is the first of mayby up to 5 coming in all white?..Have heard 3 will just have stickers? So 5 painted in QFlink livery and 3 with stickers.

Alliance have as yet not announced their leasing of aircraft for VA and also for their own RPT scheds and also their fifo. They will need many for those requirements.UYB,Z,W,Y i feel will come back to Alliance to be part of those requirements.:)

An additional four announced yesterday.
Additional E190s for QantasLink
The national carrier today announced an expansion of its three-year deal with Alliance Airlines, which provides QantasLink with capacity using Alliance’s Embraer E190 regional jet aircraft and the flexibility to respond to changing market conditions.
The expanded agreement will see the airline increase its options under this deal from 14 jet aircraft to a total of 18. Of this, three are already flying with another five to enter service by October. The E190s will be painted in QantasLink livery and are part of Qantas growing its domestic capacity to at least 107 per cent of pre-COVID levels in FY22.
The first of the 94-seat E190 jets started flying on the QantasLink network last month. The jet’s five-hour range makes it well suited to linking regional centres with smaller capital cities. The introduction of E190s also frees up Qantas’ Boeing 737 aircraft to be redeployed across the domestic network, enabling the airline to launch a number of new routes and add frequencies on existing ones.
Canberra-Adelaide is the latest route to benefit from additional flights made possible by the E190, with frequencies to double from nine per week to 18 per week from mid-July.

VH UYC the white one has gone into service with Air North. Thursday it did - DRW/GOV/CNS/GOV/DRW/PER. Today is PER/DRW, was due to leave at 10.10am PER time but is still on the ground.
