I poped past the Qantas founders museum tent at the Avalon airshow and I had a conversation with the museum curator. I asked if there is any chance of a 767 making its way over to Longreach.
He said QANTAS offered a 767 as gift to be on display, but they declined after many meetings and discussions as they won't be able to afford the upkeep of the aircraft. He also mention the lack of space to put the aircraft. (As we already know)
But some time in the future a 767 might make its way over there.
